I assume you can login to your Router for one yes? All I can provide are general instructions unless you'd like to share screenshots (do hide any public IPs and the like though). I can't provide you exact instructions for your Router since I don't have it. This will make it harder for bots and any humans on the Internet to try and break in. To make it more secure you can setup Public/Private Key authentication and disable password login for root. This doubles as a SFTP service even though (last I checked) it doesn't tell you that. I'm not in the up'n'up with the latest versions of FreeNAS but you don't want to use the FTP service unless you need it locally. After that i'll try the connection via SSH on my NAS and hopefully it'll work I called my ISP today to give me an IPv4 address. I think i figured the problem by myself -> my ISP gives me an IPv6 address and an DS-Lite connetion. It'd give you a hostname to use to connect to the server. If your Public IP isn't Static you may also want to configure Dynamic DNS. Sometimes this can have problems of its own. You'll have to figure out your Public IP from here and try connecting. You can leave access to the server on both IPv4/IPv6 if you like. What does Port to Device say? Probably asking for Port 22. (Internal: 22, External I recommend a number >30,000 (This would be the Static IP of your server) ![]() What Private IP to forward incoming requests to.
